AEW World Heavyweight Championship is the premier championship in All Elite Wrestling. Chris Jericho was crowned as the first AEW World Champion at AEW All Out 2019 PPV on 24 August 2019.

The AEW World Championship title belt was first unveiled at AEW Double or Nothing 2019 PPV by wrestling legend Bret Hart. The title belt is designed by Dave Millican. AEW wanted to bring back the retro title design from the NWA’s peak era which resulted in a broader design and a heavier belt.

Samoa Joe is the current AEW World Heavyweight Champion. He won the title at Worlds End 2023 on December 30 by beating MJF.

Jon Moxley unified the AEW World Championship by defeating CM Punk at the August 24 episode of Dynamite. Moxley became the first wrestler to win the AEW World title for the second time. He lost the title back to CM Punk at All Out 2022.

Kenny Omega defeated Jon Moxley on the AEW Dynamite episode of 2 December 2020 after using a mic to gain an advantage and some help from Don Cullis. Omega became the longest reigning AEW World Champion with a reign of 347 days. He was dethroned by Adam Page at AEW Full Gear 2021.

Jon Moxley got his hands on the AEW World Championship by defeating Chris Jericho on 29 February 2020 at the AEW Revolution 2020 PPV. His main feuds during the title reign were against Brodie Lee (defeated at AEW Double or Nothing 2020), MJF (defeated at AEW All Out 2020) and Eddie Kingston(defeated at AEW Full Gear 2020). He then lost the title to Kenny Omega after Omega used a mic to gain an advantage during their match.

Chris Jericho was tasked with establishing the AEW brand and hence was crowned the inaugural AEW World Heavyweight Champion. He won the title after defeating Adam Page at AEW All Out 2019 PPV. Inner Circle vs The Elites was the main feud during his title reign which saw him defending the title against Cody Rhodes at AEW Full Gear 2019 PPV. His feud with Jon Moxley saw him lose the title to him at AEW Revolution 2020 PPV.
