WBO Orders Junto Nakatani vs Andrew Moloney Jr Bantamweight Title Bout
WBO orders Junto Nakatani vs Andrew Moloney for the vacant jr bantamweight title.
WBO has decided to fill the void left by the previous champion Kazuto Ioka, and they chose Nakatani and Moloney to do this job.
Kazuto Ioka has decided to vacate the title instead of having a rematch against Joshua Franco which is targeted to take place later this year in June in Japan.
WBO will assign them a period for negotiation before they call a hearing for the purse bid. However, it is expected that both camps will reach a deal before that.
Teiken Promotions promoted Junto Nakatani whereas Andrew Moloney is represented by Top Rank. Nakatani was named the mandatory challenger for the junior bantamweight title when he vacated the junior flyweight title.
Ioka was ordered to face Nakatani earlier this year, but they failed to reach an agreement. After that, a purse bid hearing was scheduled for Feb 23, but it was canceled as well after Ioka vacated the title.
WBO is yet to announce the date and venue for this junior bantamweight title bout. Stay tuned for more updates.
