Subriel Matias was coming off a revenge victory over Petros Ananyan in January 2022 who earlier gave Matias his first career loss. It was Matias’ third win in a row since the loss to Ananyan in February 2020.
Jeremias Ponce, undefeated in her career so far at 30-0, had fought in his native Argentina and Germany before this fight. This was his first bout on US soil. Did he become a World Champion in his first attempt?
