Edgar Berlanga Targets Canelo Bout After Signing with Matchroom Boxing
Edgar Berlanga, who recently parted ways with Top Rank Boxing about a month ago, has signed a new multi-fight deal with Matchroom Boxing.
The super middleweight instantly became a hot free agent right after he came out of contract with Top Rank. He had talks with both Golden Boy and Matchroom, but in the end, he chose Matchroom as his new promoter.
Edgar Berlanga’s ultimate goal is to fight Canelo Alvarez, and hence Matchroom Boxing seems to be the perfect choice for him. They promoted Canelo’s five out of the last six fights after his split with Golden Boys in 2020.
Berlanga is coming off a unanimous decision win against Roamer Alexis Angulo. This win was a bit controversial for him as he bit his opponent and then joked about it as well.
Edgar is undefeated in professional boxing and won all his 20 bouts. Out of these, he won 16 bouts via knockout. His resume is definitely impressive, and now it remains to be seen who he will face in his next bout.
