AEW announces Double or Nothing 2020 for 23 May 2020

AEW has announced the AEW Double Or Nothing 2020 PPV show for 23 May 2020 at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, US.

The news was first reported by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated as he spoke with AEW President & CEO Tony Khan. Khan discussed the success that the company has had since the first Double Or Nothing PPV which took place on 25 May 2019.

Khan also said how AEW Dynamite has reached millions of viewers worldwide and AEW events has sold more than 140,000 tickets worldwide. Khan continued, “It’s been an incredible run, and only fitting that we return to Las Vegas to celebrate our one year anniversary with AEW’s marquee event. On Saturday, May 23, Double or Nothing is back for round two at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.”

Later, AEW retweeted Barrasso’s tweet and confirmed the news. Later, a trailer was also released which mentioned that the tickets will go on sale on Valentine’s Day, 14 February 2020.

Double Or Nothing 2019 event had the main event match between AEW World Champion Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega. The show also saw Adam Page win a Casino Battle Royale to earn the AEW World Title match. The Young Bucks defending the AAA Tag Team title against Lucha Bros and the brother’s clash between Cody and Dustin Rhodes.

Before Double or Nothing, AEW will be presenting AEW Revolution 2020 PPV on 29 February 2020. In the AEW Full Gear press conference, Tony Khan mentioned that they would be bringing back Double or Nothing, All Out and Full Gear in 2020 and will look to maintain one PPV in every quarter formula.
