Andrade defeated Rey Mysterio to become the new WWE United States Champion

WWE resumed their Live Events schedule after the Christmas break with a show at Madison Square Garden, New York. Below are the results & updates from the show.

  • The Viking Raiders defeated The Street Profits & The OC’s Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in a triple threat tag team match for WWE Raw Tag Team Championship. Street Profits got a big reaction during their high energy entrance. The Viking Raiders hit the Viking Experience on Anderson for the pin.
  • Drew McIntyre defeated No Way Jose in a squash match.
  • Andrade defeated Rey Mysterio to become the new WWE United States Championship. Before the match, Zelina Vega set up the match by saying that Rey Mysterio has refused to let WWE doctors look at his neck after the beatdown from AOP and Rollins on RAW. And Rey himself has demanded the match against Andrade. Mysterio also cut a promo after the match. He apologized to the audience for losing the match and it meant the world to him to perform in front of the New York fans.
  • Randy Orton pinned AJ Styles after converting the Phenomenal Forearm from Styles to an RKO. It was a long match. Early in the match, Gallows and Anderson pulled Styles out of the ring and attempted to leave. But the Viking Raiders came out and started brawling, forcing Styles back in the ring.
  • Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch retained her title against Charlotte Flair and Asuka. This was the first-ever women’s steel cage match in the history of Madison Square Garden. The finish was set up similar to Ric Flair vs Sting finish from Great American Bash 1990. Charlotte went for figure eight but Becky turned it into a small package for the pin.
  • WWE 24/7 Champion R-Truth faced The Singh Brothers in a handicap match. Samir Singh pinned Truth to win the title but was then rolled up and pinned by Sunil Singh. Truth then rolled up Sunil and regained the title.
  • Aleister Black pinned Buddy Murphy after his Black Mass finisher.
  • Lana and Lashley cut a promo regarding their wedding. Rusev vs Lashley’s No Holds Barred match was advertised earlier but Lana claimed she was able to get yet another restraining order against Rusev.
  • Lana ended her promo saying that there was no one who could stand up to her Lashley and dared anyone in the back to face him. Ricochet answered the challenge and defeated Lashley with a rollup.
  • Seth Rollins defeated Kevin Owens in a No Holds Barred Match for the main event. Before the match, Rollins and Owens cut a promo about why the audience has turned on Rollins. During the match, they brawled into the crowd and went around the building before returning to the ringside area. As Owens was looking for the win, AOP came out and attacked him. Rollins hit him with a stomp on the flat table and got the pin.
  • Samoa Joe made the save afterward as he returned to action from the injury. He fought off the AOP, using a Singapore Cane and crashed Rollins through a table to close the show.
