Riho To Defend Title Against Sakura At AEW Full Gear 2019
AEW has announced the AEW Women’s Championship match between Riho and her former mentor Emi Sakura at AEW Full Gear 2019 in a student vs master clash.
Riho has been the shining star of the women’s division since the start of the promotion. After getting a string of wins under her belt, she qualified for the women’s title match after defeating Hikaru Shida at AEW All Out 2019. Facing Nyla Rose in the inaugural AEW Women’s title match, she came out on the winning side to record her name in the history books as the first-ever AEW Women’s Champion.
On the other hand, Emi Sakura faced losses in AEW in her first two matches. And both of those times, she was facing Riho in a tag team match. However, she got her first win in AEW at AEW Dark episode last night, defeating Allie, Penelope Ford, and Sadie Gibbs.
If we look into their history, Riho has been Sakura’s student when she started training. The two women faced off recently in Riho’s last match in her home promotion, Gatoh Move. Incidentally, Sakura came out on the winning side in that match.
