AJ Styles has retained the WWE United States Championship by defeating Humberto Carrillo at WWE Crown Jewel 2019.

WWE earlier announced a 20 Men Battle Royal at the pre-show for WWE Crown Jewel 2019. The winner of the Battle Royal was to get an opportunity to contest AJ Styles for the WWE United States Championship. Humberto Carrillo won the Battle Royal after last eliminating Erick Rowan.

This was Carrillo’s third high profile match in a row. He debuted in the WWE Main Roster on RAW last week against WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins. He lost the match but looked pretty good in the process. Carrillo was then asked to face AJ Styles in a non-title match at RAW earlier this week in another losing effort.

As Styles and Carrillo faced off for the second time in four days, the match dynamics were completely different. Unlike the match on RAW, AJ Styles dominated the match from the start itself. Carrillo made a comeback in the middle of the match, but Styles took advantage of his injured knee and finished off the match with a Phenomenal Forearm.

Styles was also accompanied by his OC stablemates who had won the Tag Team World Cup earlier in the night. But surprisingly, they did not try to interfere in the match even once. After the match, The OC celebrated in the with the Tag Team World Cup Trophy and United States Championship after the match.
