WWE NXT star Jordan Myles has been blasting WWE on Twitter over his current NXT merchandise logo, which he is claiming to be based on infamous “Blackface”.

According to Myles, the design for his gimmick is called blackface. Blackface is a make-up used predominantly by non-black performers to represent a caricature of a black person. The practice gained popularity during the 19th century and contributed to the spread of racial stereotypes starting from Jim Crow in 1834. You can know more about it here.

Myles called out Vince McMahon and Triple H about his merchandise logo in a tweet. He emphasized that WWE “needs a reprogramming because they are ignorant”. He told us that he will keep posting till his voice his heard. Myles also went onto say in the same tweet to Vince McMahon and Triple H that if this was a vision for him, “then this is a slap in the face to EVERY African American performer, fan, and supporter”.

Part of the new gimmick for Jordan Myles in NXT included him smiling a lot. WWE intended to incorporate the same into the design and logo for his merchandise. However, in Myles’ view, WWE crossed the line with what is apparently a racially insensitive design.

Myles signed with WWE in February 2019. Initially using the in-ring name of ACH, keeping the name from Ring of Honor. In June 2019, WWE changed the in-ring names for a host of NXT athletes. It included the change from ACH to Jordan Myles’s gimmick.

Myles went on to win the NXT Breakout Tournament 2019 and got the title shot for NXT Championship against Adam Cole. He lost the said title match against Adam Cole which was televised on 4 September 2019.
