Jon Moxley Vacates IWGP US Title After Missing NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling

Jon Moxley Wins IWGP United States Title

Jon Moxley had vacated the IWGP United States Championship Title after missing NJPW’s King of Pro-Wrestling at Sumo Hall in Tokyo, due to travel complications from Typhoon Hagibis.

Jon Moxley was supposed to defend the title against Juice Robinson in a no disqualification match at King of Pro-Wrestling. This would have been a rematch from NJPW Best of Super Juniors in June this year, where Moxley won the title from Robinson.

However, just a few hours before tonight’s event, NJPW announced that Jon Moxley and Zack Sabre Jr. are not able to make it to Tokyo due to Typhoon Hagibis. As a result of Moxley missing the show, the US title was vacated. Juice Robinson then faced Lance Archer for the title with Archer winning the title.

Typhoon Hagibis smashed into Japan on Saturday and has disrupted normal life in many regions of the country. Some games of Rugby World Cup 2019 and Formula One’s Japanese Grand Prix were also affected due to the Typhoon. The biggest impact came on flights as around 1600 flights have been canceled.

Jon Moxley is next scheduled to partner with PAC to face Kenny Omega and Adam Page on this week’s AEW Dynamite episode. Moxley is also expected to work at least one more date with NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom 14 in January.
