Chris Jericho Defeats Adam Page to Become 1st AEW World Champion

Chris Jericho has become the first AEW World Champion after defeating Adam Hangman Page at AEW All Out 2019.

Chris Jericho and Adam Page faced off at the main event of AEW All Out 2019 show in an intense battle. Adam Page rode in for the match on a horse as he promised earlier. Both men gave their best in a match that saw Jericho betting busted open over his eyebrow. Page seemed to be on his way to win the match when he attempted his finisher, Deadshot, for the second time. However, Jericho managed to duck it and hit the Judas effect(spinning back elbow).

Jericho celebrated in the ring afterward with his new belt and got tended to by a medical official to help with his bloody face. He also went on a rant afterward in All Out post-show. He went on to berate the Young Bucks for not getting his “thank you” while also berating random fans and backstage crew.

Chris Jericho earlier defeated Kenny Omega at AEW Double or Nothing to qualify for this match. Hangman Page won the Casino Battle Royal at the same show to qualify as the other participant. Jericho will now defend the title at 9 October episode of AEW’s weekly show on TNT. Before that, he will also face Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks in a 6-man tag team match.
