Shayna Baszler defeated Mia Yim to retain the NXT Women’s Championship
They lock up and Yim yanks on Shanya’s ear to piss her off. Shayna applies a wristlock and trips her but Mia seems unphased. Yim trips her and kicks her hard. Baszler goes for an armbar but Yim gets to the ropes. Yim hits a running kick and a cannonball in the corner. Baszler hits a forearm to block a suicide dive. Yim recovers and sends her into the steel steps. She traps Shayna’s arm and kicks the steps to crush it. Back in the ring, Baszler hits a roundhouse.
Baszler stomp’s Yim’s elbow and works on it for some time to set her up for her finisher. She puts Mia in a key lock to add more pressure. Shayna keeps working on the left arm while selling her own arm. Yim breaks a hold by grabbing Baszler’s hair. Baszler comes back with a clothesline and hits a dropkick to get a two-count. They go back and forth as they trade control. Yim hits a belly to belly that sends Shayna out of the ring.
Baszler tries the Superplex, but Yim hits the Sunset Flip Powerbomb from the top rope to get a near fall. Shayna Baszler locks in the Kirafuda Clutch, but Mia Yim targets the injured arm and to break the Clutch. Yim stomps on Baszler’s injured arm and kicks her down, before trying for the Armbar. Shayna almost gets her finisher locked in but Yim uses her injured arm to break free. Mia stomps on Baszler’s elbow just like she does to everyone else.
Yim applies an armbar but Baszler counters back into her own finisher. She transitions into a triangle choke with her legs to get the submission win and will retain her title.
Adam Cole vs Johnny Gargano – 2 out 3 Falls, NXT Championship Match
After a lengthy hype promo for the match, Johnny Gargano enters. He is sporting a Wolverine inspired gear, in Yellow. Adam Cole enters with the NXT Title on his waist. The crowd gives a good reaction to both of them. A bit more to Cole.
1st Fall- Normal Wrestling Match
They circle a bit and Gargano locks in the arm. They grapple a bit before coming to a stalemate. More circling and this time Cole gets in the headlock. Gargano throws him at the rope and runs into a shoulder tackle. More back and forth and Cole goes for the Last shot pretty early. Both go for the superkick but stops in the middle. Cole dodges Gargano and goes for the move from the middle turnbuckle. But Gargano repeats the same move and get successful in hitting in Cole’s knee.
Gargano clotheslines him out of the ring and hits a basement slide dropkick. The action moves out of the ring and Gargano keeps the upper hand. Cole goes to the penalty kick but Gargano moves away and Cole’s knee strikes in the steel steps. Gargano is working on Cole’s knee as locks in figure four. Cole reaches the rope to break the hold but Gargano is still working on it near the ropes.
Cole gets some strikes going at the apron and manages to pull out Gargano to hit a German Suplex at the apron. He gets back in the ring and is now keeping control. Cole works on Gargano’s neck and follows it up with an inverted neck breaker. He puts on the chokehold on Gargano next. Gargano reverses and puts the Ankle Lock on him. Gargano is thrown into the turnbuckle. Gargano reverses a dive and then sends Cole crashing into the corner of the ring into the turnbuckles.
Cole and Gargano knock each other about, and Gargano follows up with a Knife Edge chop as well. Cole prevents the slingshot spear but Gargano also counters DDT attempt to hit a turnover Fisherman Suplex into a pin. Gargano hits Cole with several shots to the head and then hits a diving drop on the leg of Cole. He locks in the Figure Four but Cole reaches the rope. Cole hits the German Suplex, holding it for the pin.
More counters and Gargano hits a kick. Cole replies with an enziguiri and Gargano comes with a superkick. Cole was going for a Panama Sunrise, but Gargano hits the Sunset Driver to get a near fall. Cole goes to the top turnbuckle and tries for the Panama Sunrise once again. A combination of Gargano holding on and Cole’s knees giving up prevents the move. Gargano goes for the splash from the top but Cole transitions into a double knee. Cole hits the Michinoku Driver on Gargano for a near-fall.
Gargano takes out Cole, but the wind has been driven out of him too. These two men are so equally matched. Gargano is hit by a Superkick as he goes for the slingshot spear. Another superkick and a Ushigoroshi gets Cole a near fall. Cole is frustrated and bring in a chair. As the referee gets distracted, Cole hits a low blow to get a near fall. Cole is being warned by the referee against using the chair. Gargano hits Cole with a Superkick. Gargano hits Cole with the chair to take him out and gets disqualified. First Fall goes to Adam Cole.
