The Honky Tonk Man to be inducted to WWE Hall of Fame

WWE has announced The Honky Tonk Man to be inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2019. The former WWE Intercontinental Champion joins the D-Generation-X in the class.

Wayne Farris joined the WWE for the first time 1986 and is famous for being one of the best heel characters in the industry. He holds the record for the longest reign as the WWE Intercontinental Champions when he held the title for 454 days(64 weeks) in 1987-88. He also had a brief stint with WCW in 1994 before later returning to WWE in 1997 to become a commentator. He later became the manager for Billy Gunn for a short time and sporadically appearing in the ring. He also appeared in the 2001 Royal Rumble.

In October 2008, Honky Tonk was voted as the popular choice to stop Santino Marella’s quest to break his record for longest Intercontinental Championship reign. He won the title match against Marella by disqualification and therefore did not win the title. In 2010, he rejected WWE’s offer to be inducted in the Hall of fame and has made his last appearance for WWE in 2013 during a segment with Brodus Clay and Tensai and team 3MB.

2019 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on 6 April at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York during WrestleMania 35 weekend.
