Only 14 matches for WrestleMania this year?

After some reports coming out last week that this year’s WrestleMania might host the most number of matches in WWE’s history, some contrary reports are coming this week which are stating that WWE might be cutting out on some matches to keep the total under 14.

Last week, Wrestling Observer Radio reported that WWE might end up with 17 matches at WrestleMania which will include all the championship matches along with 2 Battle Royals and other singles matches. But WWE is making a sincere effort to bring down the number of the matches. Yesterday, Rajah.com has reported that WWE has indeed finalized 14 matches for the event. If the report is to be believed that it would mean cutting out on any one or both of the RAW or SmackDown Tag team championship along with doing away with Women’s Battle Royal.

Cutting down on any of the Men’s Tag Team Championship might seem tricky with the situations with both the tag team champions. The Usos’ contract is up in April and in order to persaude them to resign, WWE might want to keep their match for WrestleMania. The Revival duo was reported to have asked for release from WWE in January accusing WWE of not handling the tag team division properly. Cutting down on any of the tag team match would only further substaintiate the belief.

Omission of Women’s Battle Royal will also leave out many Women performers from having anything to do at WrestleMania which will include the Riott Squad, Carmella, Naomi, either one of Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville apart from Dana Brooke and new NXT joinees like Nikki Cross and Lacey Evans.

WrestleMania 35 will take place at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on 7 April this year. For the updated match card from the event, please click here.
