Kurt Angle Announced Retirement after WrestleMania 35

At this week’s episode of RAW at his hometown in Pittsburg, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has announced that he will retire from pro-wrestling after WrestleMania 35 this year in April.

Kurt Angle came out this week on RAW to address his future. He talked about how over twenty years ago he left Pittsburgh to compete in the Olympics, where he won a gold medal with a broken neck, and that lead him to WWE, where he’s faced and defeated just about every legend and Hall of Famer in the business. No matter where he goes, he considers Pittsburgh his home town, and that’s why he wanted to save this announcement for the night that, at WrestleMania this year, he will compete in his farewell match. He then thanked WWE, superstars he shared the locker room with and the fans to make it so much fun for him and went on to work one last match in front of Pittsburgh against Apollo Crews which he went on to win.

The speculations for Angle’s retirement has been doing rounds for months now with different superstars from John Cena, Undertaker to Drew McIntyre being stated to be his last opponent. He also came out on RAW a few weeks ago teasing a similar announcement when he was interrupted by Baron Corbin and got involved in tag team matches in the coming weeks. Now he has finally announced his retirement but his opponent for WrestleMania is still not announced. WrestleMania will take place at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey on April 7 this year.
