The Bar vs Kofi Kingston – Handicap Match

The New Day (Xavier Woods and Big E) have beaten the team of Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura in the Kick-Off show match at Fastlane 2019 event. But from there, things went downwards for the team as Kofi Kingston has to suffer a beatdown in a match by the Bar while Woods and Big E were taken out by Rusev and Nakamura.

As Woods and Big E were getting ready for their tag team match at the Kick-Off show, Kofi was asked to meet Vince McMahon regarding the WWE Championship match. The New Day members were able to get the win over Rusev and Nakamura after E took down Rusev and Woods hit the UpUpDownDown on Nakamura to get the pin. After an hour or so, when Woods and E found Kofi still waiting to meet Mr. McMahon, they stormed into his green room and asked Kofi to be put in the WWE Championship match. McMahon agreed to after some time, said that the WWE Championship match will indeed be a triple threat and asked Kofi to head to the ring.

However, when Kofi reached the ring, it was announced that he will instead face the Bar in a 2 on 1 handicapped match. Working 2 against 1 in the match, the Bar assaulted Kofi. Kofi tried to fight back but was facing a numerical disadvantage. Kofi’s New Day partners finally came out to try to save him but they looked like escaping from a beatdown. While they were headed to the ring, they were once again attacked from behind by Rusev and Nakamura. The Bar hit the double white noise on Kofi to get the win.

Kofi has been a recent fan favorite to face Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania and WWE is building him up to work against the odds while he is also being pulled down by the Authority figures time and again. These major angles are now confirming that WWE indeed plan to put Kofi in the Mania match. This match, or read a brutal beatdown, was not the only major change at Fastlane. The WWE Championship match was indeed changed to a triple threat match while a United States Championship match was also added to the card last minute.

  1. […] After screwing Kofi twice in last 2 weeks, Vince McMahon came out on SmackDown and told us that he is a good judge of talent, he does not see Kofi as the main eventer and that everything he does is what he calls a teachable moment for all of us. The New Day entered and told him how much Kofi deserved the chance as they never complain, buck the system or threaten to leave while still being treated like garbage. Vince came back by saying that nobody, including himself, deserves anything at all. Big E told him that this is bigger than their opinions or the New Day or Vince’s damn ego, to which McMahon says nothing is bigger than his ego. […]
