How will NXT Takeover: New York Match Card look like?
NXT tapings for episodes from February 27 to March 13 took place at their base in Full Sail last night. Although full spoilers are available throughout the internet, let’s see what does it tells us about the matches that will be booked for the next Takeover event for NXT which will take place two days before Wrestle Mania on 5th April 2019 at Toyota Center in Brooklyn, New York. Tomasso Ciampa(c) vs Johnny Gargano – NXT Championship
After losing his NXT North American Title in his first defense, Johnny Gargano formally reunited with Tomasso Ciampa in DIY. They participated in Dusty Rhodes classic tournament but after their loss in the second round, they have come to blows with each other. This means one and only thing, that they will face off for the NXT Championship. And this might the last time they face each other in NXT as at least one of them might come to the main roster by that time.
Shayna Baszler(c) vs Io Shirai vs Bianca Beliar – NXT Women’s Championship
Shayna Baszler interfered in the no. 1 Contender’s match between Io Shirai and Bianca Beliar to cause the disqualification and subsequently took down Kairi Sane when she came out to make the save. Although this generally means that both the participants from no. 1 contender match will go on to face champion, a match between Kairi Sane and Baszler is not out of the question yet.
Velveteen Dream(c) vs Adam Cole – NXT North American Championship
Adam Cole called out Velveteen Dream in a post-match promo after he defeated Punishment Martinez. Dream answered the call and ended up beating up Cole along with Martinez. The inaugural North American Champion wants his championship back which will definitely be on the line come April 5th. Although, Matt Riddle also wants a piece of that title.
War Raiders vs the winner of Dusty Rhodes Classic Tournament – NXT Tag Team Championship
As per the tapings, while the team of Ricochet and Aleister Black has reached the finals of Dusty Rhodes Classics along with the Forgotten Sons. Most probably, Forgotten Sons will win this one and Ricochet and Aleister Black will proceed to the main roster.
Apart from this one or two other non-title matches can also be added.
